It’s another vibrant week for live music in Berkshire County, with 38 performances spanning folk, classical, indie, and Motown. Highlights include activist songwriter David Rovics, accompanied by Australian artist Kamala Emanuel, at Flynn Pianos on Wednesday, and Boston-based Americana artist Halley Neal at Egremont Barn on Thursday. Friday brings a powerhouse lineup: Matt Cusson at the Mahaiwe, Davóne Tines with Ruckus at The Clark, and Thirty Years On: The Joint Chiefs at Race Brook Lodge. The weekend rounds out with the Berkshire Bach Harpsichord Festival, family-friendly fun at Tanglewood, and a soulful Motown in Your Town celebration. - David Rovics & Kamala Emanuel at Flynn Pianos Workshop and Gallery on Wednesday. Rovics, who comes from the activist tradition of Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, is joined by Australian Emanuel.
- Halley Neal at Egremont Barn on Thursday. Catch the Boston-based folk and Americana artist. After graduating from Berklee College of Music, she moved to Nashville and was a finalist for the “Nashville Rising Song” songwriting competition.
- Simone Stevens & Phil Roebuck at Dream Away Lodge on Thursday. Two great indie artists in the storied music room at the Dream Away…what more could you ask for?
- Thirty Years On: An Evening with the Joint Chiefs at Race Brook Lodge on Friday. Come celebrate the start of the Connecticut bands’ third decade of musical merriment.
- Music in the Manton: Davóne Tines with Ruckus at The Clark Art Institute on Friday. Catch this unique performance as early music band Ruckus and bass-baritone opera singer Davóne Tines (pictured above) present their new concert, What is Your Hand in This?, where they explore four centuries of American revolutionary songs, hymns, and ballads.
- Matt Cusson at Mahaiwe on Friday. See the Pittsfield native and Grammy-nominated, multiple award-winning singer, pianist, songwriter, producer, and arranger.
- The Berkshire Bach Harpsichord Festival: Peter Sykes at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church on Saturday. Skes plays a recital of French Baroque masterpieces for keyboard in his second solo harpsichord recital for Berkshire Bach Society.
- Liz Queler, Seth Farber & Joey Farber at Dream Away Lodge on Saturday. Three-time Grammy nominees Liz Queler and Seth Farber are joined by their son Joey, a Berklee College of Music graduate now living in LA.
- TLI for Families: Music Moves, Stories Groove at Tanglewood on Sunday morning. This interactive performance brings together improvisational storyteller, beatboxer, and rapper Baba Israel with multi-instrumentalist and soundscape artist Sean Nowell, along with contemporary dancer Audrey Thao Berger and Hip-Hop dancer B-Boy Spidey.
- Motown in Your Town at Colonial Theatre on Sunday afternoon. This program brings the iconic sounds of Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, The Supremes, The Four Tops, and more to life.
- West Stockbridge Chamber Players Harvest Concert at West Stockbridge Old Town Hall on Sunday. Catch the Chamber Players’ artistic director and clarinetist Catherine Hudgins, violinist Sheila Fiekowsky, violinist Akiko Tarumoto, violist Daniel Getz, and cellist Christine Lee, as they perform works by Hugo Wolf, Samuel Barber, and Paul Ben-Haim.
